Meet the Owner – Martha Geiger
I began my pet care journey more than 25 years ago, when I started inviting neighbor dogs to hang out at my house to give our rambunctious dog, Oreo, some company and teach my young daughter, Teal, how to care for animals.
After sleeping on the floor with anxious canines, feeding reluctant pets by hand, monitoring schedules and changes in behavior, massaging aging and ill pets – and absolutely loving it – I decided that I’d found my calling. In 2018, I left my full-time job to officially launch Premiere Petsitting.
I carefully screen all of my pet sitters and only get connected to those with the aaility to handle tough situations such as an anxious dog who won’t leave her crate, a cat with a broken leg or an animal who is threatening your pet on a walk. Through my comprehensive training, the pet professionals who work for Premiere Petsitting and Dog Walking RVA are prepared to deal with any scenario that comes their way. But my most critical qualification is that my sitters love animals as much as I do and are willing and eager to play with, love on and bond with every single one of the pets in their care.

We understand. It’s hard to leave a pet alone. To alleviate that stress and provide peace of mind for both you and your animals, Premiere Petsitting works hard to provide your furry friends/family members with the same extraordinary care you give them.
Does your pup like an afternoon walk followed by a game of fetch? Does your kitty prefer to eat while someone is watching her? By getting to know your animals’ unique preferences, habits and routines, our sitters keep your animals happy, comfortable and safe on the days that you can’t be there. But Premiere doesn’t just stand in for you. We also develop our own special relationship with your pets and genuinely look forward to and enjoy our visits. And it makes our day when they let us know how much they enjoy seeing us!
At Premiere Petsitting & Dog Walking RVA, our passion for animals reaches far beyond the dogs, cats, birds, amphibians and lizards we care for every day. With a significant portion of our revenues, we also support animal welfare efforts in the Greater Richmond area, including rescue organizations like the Richmond SPCA and Richmond Animal League. For every dog we walk or lizard we feed, Premiere is able to help other animals, both endangered and homeless, find shelter, rehabilitation, protection and loving families.
We are Licensed with Goochland County, registered with the State Corporation Commission, Insured and bonded with Kennel Pro, powered by Maurer Foster. Our sitters and walkers are also extensively interviewed, reference checked, background checked and pet first aid certified.
Oreo – Our Beloved Pup
Oreo was the inspiration – From puppy-hood when Santa brought this little rescue from the Humane Society to live with us, he was pure energy. Our daughter, Teal learned at a young age to care for Oreo… then his friends and then their friends! He was her best friend growing up and taught her so much about life and her own values. Teal has taken those values into adult life and across the country.
Over twenty-five years and untold hours of service beyond the basics: sleeping on the floor with an anxious canine, feeding a reticent cat or dog by hand to encourage eating, monitoring schedules and changes in behavior, massaging aging, and anxious pets, contacting vets in emergencies, shutting off leaking hot water heaters…and much more! All in the support of our vision to make a difference for animals everywhere, starting in our own backyard.
Premiere Pet Sitting and Dog Walking RVA supports agencies and rescues that provide animal shelter, protection, rehabilitation, fostering and adoption. Our organization supports advocacy efforts on behalf of animal welfare. And more importantly, we provide assurance to pet dogs, cats, guinea pigs, chickens, etc, and peace of mind to their humans.
