Our Friends At RAL Need Some Help

RAL’s first priority is making sure all the pets and people at RAL are safe and cared for. Right now all the cats and dogs coming in to RAL are being placed safely into foster homes. They have additional fosters on stand by for emergency surrender and return situations, and have reached out to their 26 partnering animal control shelters to prioritize their needs and see how they can help. They’re also still doing adoptions (89 in March!) while putting safety first and going over paperwork and medical histories virtually.

Just two days ago, thirty dogs and cats from six animal control partners were welcomed to RAL. That’s four puppies and an adult dog from Petersburg Animal Control, one cat from Hopewell Animal Services, five cats from Henrio Animal Control, one cat and two hours-old kittens from Hanover Animal Control, six dogs from Dinwiddie Animal Control and ten cats from Isle of Wight Animal Control.

Premiere Petsitting is a close friend and partner with RAL. We have helped provide help for many pets through the best of times as well as times with unrest.

Below are pictures of some of the sweet pets who arrived to RAL this past week. RAL might be a bit limited in what they can do right now, but they know that together, with the help of community members, animals in need will still find the hope and help they need and deserve.

How to Help:

Adopt: We have many wonderful pets waiting to be adopted. You can browse on-line and even send in an application from home.

Foster: We are always in need of foster homes. Especially at this time we are looking for temporary emergency foster homes. Email foster@ral.org or fill out our form.

Create a Plan: We encourage all pet-owners to have an emergency plan in place for their pets. Make sure pets are wearing proper identification; have crates and extra food or supplies on hand; and identify a trusted family member, friend or pet sitter who can care for your pet if you or a family member become ill or are hospitalized.
